I can't lie. As much as I complain about being bored all the time, it's likely because the past year has been so full of fun I don't quite know what to do with the occasional breather.
Though impossible to really rank the great experiences I've had with family and friends over the past year, here are five events that helped define my 2009.
5. Summer staycation (with special guest Jillian from Vancouver!)
"Left to our own devices on the streets of Toronto this week, we did a lot of eating, drinking, and photographing ourselves. We put our seal of approval on the wings at Pauper's Pub and danced the night away at the Gladstone."
4. My 25th birthday; inevitably sweaty apartment dance party
"As per usual, our spontaneous dance outbursts alienated half the party guests, who slowly moved to the exit, or at least out of the way of our flailing arms."
3. White water rafting
"We promised each other that if we were thrown into the water, we'd start singing the Kelly Clarkson hit My Life Would Suck Without You. Because when you fear you might die, it's nice to know someone will miss you."
2. Karlee's wedding
"Miraculously, summer weather actually showed up for the occasion! We could not have asked for a better day. From ceremony to reception, the only way I can describe the whole event is 'perfect.'"
1. New York City!
"The other day at work my coworker says to me 'What's so funny?' I had been recounting a particularly hilarious moment from my recent trip to New York City in my head, and the delight was apparently showing on my face."
