Moving out: Clothes I own(ed)

This week I'm moving from an apartment with a walk-in closet to an apartment that, quite simply, does not have a walk-in closet.

I'd like to say this is no big deal, but the truth is I own so many clothes. For serious. My Saturday routine used to involve walking along Bloor, and coming home with a new shirt.

Not to mention the fact that over the years I have become emotionally attached to certain clothes, not wanting to throw them away long after they've passed their prime.

Anticipating my soon-to-be-limited storage situation, I recently came to grips with the fact that I'd have to evaluate some of the clothing I've carried with me from Oakville to Ottawa to Toronto, and purge whatever I could.

As such, I invite you to click inside and join me on a journey of the most ridiculous clothes I own -- some of which will soon be gone from my life, and some of which I still refuse to part with.

2010 Emmys: Modern Family gets the laughs

The cast of Modern Family proved why the show deserved its Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy during a recorded piece that aired during last night's awards show.

Ed O'Neil, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell and company were shown at a network meeting that exemplified just what can happen with clueless execs start meddling with a show's concept.

Expect an A-list cameo or two when you push play!

2010 Emmys: the Song and Dance number!

Host Jimmy Fallon got last night's Emmy Awards started off right, with a Glee takeoff that saw him round up some of TV's hottest stars for a performance of Born To Run.

Just push play and watch as Fallon wrangles up Tina Fey, Joel McHale, Jon Hamm and select cast members from Glee for the spirited performance.

(Better luck next time, Kate Gosselin).

2010 Emmys: The Looks

TV's finest talent walked the red carpet at last night's Emmy Awards in a variety of head-turning looks that sparkled, shone, and most of all impressed.

Funny ladies went glam, a Mad woman kept it classically elegant, and a Glee kid layered it with lace.

Click inside to get my take on the top five looks of the night!

How do we feel about . . .

. . . January Jones' electric blue Versace number shes wore to last night's Emmy Awards in Hollywood?

When the Mad Men star first appeared on the red carpet, I instantly disliked it. The neckline and cone bra didn't make sense, nor did that mullet of a hemline.

But when she took the stage to present an award later in the evening and I saw the gown in action, it didn't seem to be quite as severe a fashion violation I initially branded it.

One thing I have not wavered on, however: she definitely needed to do something about that bed head. Pulls the whole look down -- whatever she was going for with that dress.

What do you think? Is this look a winner or positively Mad?

2010 Emmys: The Winners!

The Emmys made way for some new blood this year, with Modern Family taking the highly-coveted trophy for Outstanding Comedy Series when the awards were handed out earlier tonight in Hollywood.

Actors from Glee, Modern Family, Breaking Bad, the Good Wife and the Big Bang Theory all also took home their first-ever Emmys.

That includes Jane Lynch, who took home a well-deserved trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her work on Glee.

Eric Stonestreet, meanwhile, won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy for Modern Family.

Jim Parsons took home Lead Actor in a Comedy for the Big Bang Theory, while Edie Falco took Lead Actress for Nurse Jackie.

In the drama categories, Mad Men won the top honour for Outstanding Drama Series.

Kyra Sedgwick took Outstanding Lead Actress for the Closer, while Bryan Cranston took his third Lead Actor Emmy for his work on Breaking Bad.

Cranston's Breaking Bad costar Aaron Paul took his first ever Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor. Archie Panjabi, meanwhile, took her first trophy for her supporting role in the Good Wife.

Dead Man's Bones: Pa Pa Power video

Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields performed with their children's choir at a nursing home to produce the new video for Dead Man' Bones' Pa Pa Power.

I don't quite get the interlude with the girl and boy in the field, but everything else about this video I love!

Old people, young people, two hot guys playing instruments and a dance party?!

Move over, Gaga. This is the type of 13-minute music video I can really get behind.

Watch it, and try not to smile. I dare you!

You win, Degrassi

Last night the summer season of Degrassi came to a close on MuchMusic.

And while the finale was slightly underwhelming in the drama department (I blame the overhyped promos), I must say the four-days-a-week format the series tried out this summer totally worked for me.

Seriously, it got me back interested in this show, after I had quit watching years ago.

I'm not sure if we have the storylines to thank, or just the fact that it was always on, so it made sense to watch.

Probably didn't hurt that there were two queer storylines, with the show's first trans character, and Riley the football star finally, finally, finally FINALLY coming out.

But I daresay with no sign of the original "Next Generation" left, Degrassi has successfully reinvented itself once again without resorting to some of the outlandish storylines it has in the past.

What I'm saying is I actually like some of these characters and want to watch what happens to them!

Lucky for me, Degrassi will return in a few weeks back to its weekly format (ch-check out the preview above). If it captures some of the magic of the summer season, I may just have to keep watching.

Matt Bomer on . . .

HIS 'WHITE COLLAR' WARDROBE:
"The most important thing I've learned from the entire experience style wise is that every man should have a great tailor, and visit him or her often. If you're wearing suits and you want to create your own sense of style, get to the tailor."

SMOOTH-TALKING:
"I think anyone who's ever gone through adolescence and wanted something from their parents knows the basic tenets of a con. The difference between myself and [his White Collar character] Neal is that it usually always comes back to bite me in the ass."

FLIRTING:
"One of Neal's gifts is that he is a master at thin slicing someone. It's a pretty important tool in the social engineering game. Confidence, intelligence, and a sense of humour go a long way, but you also have to know who you're dealing with, and adjust your tactics accordingly."

FAVOURITE MUSIC:
"Right now I'm really loving the new-ish LCD Soundsystem album [This Is Happening], as well as the new Arcade Fire album [The Suburbs]. My favourite band of all time is probably The Eagles. I'm even a sucker for Henley's solo career. "Heart of the Matter" is one of my all time favorite songs."

Brandon Flowers flies solo at MOD Club (and it's good)

I'm going to try to ensure this review of Brandon Flowers' guest list-only show at Toronto's MOD Club Wednesday night does not consist solely of discussion about how hot he is.

So let's just get this out of the way. For at least 55 minutes of his one hour set I was thinking about how much I wanted to do him.

I can't help it. It's who I am. And it's who he is.

Brandon's eyes and smile are so dreamy they make me feel better about life.

And he's one of the only men I've ever come across who I feel can actually pull off a vest. That's not a statement I make lightly.

B.Flo is out promoting his new solo album Flamingo, a collection of songs he's said were partially intended for the next Killers album.

And while the songs themselves are nothing groundbreaking for the singer, he performs them with an apprehensive yet excitable energy that is infectious.

Musically, let's think more Sam's Town than Hot Fuss. Some of the songs definitely edge toward a country feel. Slightly more reflective than anthemic.

This being the second time I've seen him in concert, I was once again shocked at the strength of Flowers' voice. Backed with a new four-piece band as well as two female backup singers, Flowers commanded the performance with his vocals, and a few theatric flourishes.

He also seemed slightly more relaxed in his performance Wednesday night than I've seen him in the past. Perhaps it was the small club venue, or the fact that he knew not many in the crowd would recognize these yet-to-be-released songs. But it appeared that he actually enjoyed being up on stage, and it was kind of refreshing to see.

The collection of new songs he performed was punctuated by a cover of Bette Davis Eyes, and Losing Touch off of the Killers' Day & Age. And for his encore, he performed an acoustic version of the Killers' hit When You Were Young.

While the audience responded favourably to these recognizable songs, the rest of Flowers' set was indeed entertaining. He even won high reviews of a friend, who admitted she wasn't a Killers fan but really enjoyed this show.

Flowers' desire to continue making music while his Killers bandmates take a break is admirable, and not entirely in vain. He delivered a solid show -- and appeared to be having fun -- even without the energy of a crowd eagerly singing along to every word.

This is what my life looks like right now

I'm moving!

And it is so much work because I own so many things.

I've uncovered some real gems in the process. Possessions I forgot I owned.

Once I get myself organized (bahah!) look for a particularly revealing blog post that highlights why exactly I need a walk-in closet in which to lose things.

Until then, mind the sporadic posting!

Channing Tatum is in Toronto!

Keep your eyes peeled, Toronto!

Channing Tatum has arrived in our fine city, ready to shoot the Vow, his new film costarring Rachel McAdams.

The 30-year-old actor was snapped leaving Hemingway's in Yorkville on Saturday.

Now if you think the Tatum-McAdams combo is a casting dream, just wait: it gets better!

Toronto native Scott Speedman is in negotiations to join to join the film as well!

The movie, based on a true story, will see Tatum and McAdams play a recently married couple whose love is challenged when a car accident leaves McAdams' character in a coma, then with amnesia.

Speedman would play McAdams' character's former fiance, with whom she rekindles a romance in her amnesiac state.

The only way we could make this film prettier is if we found a role for Ryan Gosling. Come on now, let's make it happen!

Tuesday deliciousness: Stephen Moyer

True Blood star Stephen Moyer was snapped taking a shirtless stroll at Venice Beach, CA on Sunday, one day after he married his costar Anna Paquin.

Y'all know Alexander Skarsgard is my vampire of choice, but I must say Paquin didn't do too shabby getting hitched to Mr. Moyer!

The trio will present together at this Sunday's Primetime Emmy Awards.

And in case you missed it, click here to see Moyer, Paquin and Sarsgard bare all on the cover of Rolling Stone.

Happy Tuesday!

Dear female readers of this blog . . .

Final season of 90210 coming to DVD!

Great news for Beverly Hills, 90210 fans (read: me) who have been waiting for the 10th and final season to come to DVD. Paramount has finally announced its release for November 2, 2010!

By the final season only half the original cast remained, and the show had really run its course. Even my main man Jason Priestley -- good guy Brandon Walsh -- had jumped ship.

Still, why would anyone stop buying the DVD sets at season nine?!

As a bonus feature, this six-disc set will include "The Final Goodbye," a cast and crew retrospective.

I got in trouble from my roommate earlier this year when I spoiled the series finale of 90210. I had no idea I had to keep it a secret ten years after it had aired.

Here's hoping she gets her hands on these DVDs so she can finally get the closure she deserves!

New Brothers & Sisters romances brewing

We're just over a month until the September 26 premiere of Brothers and Sisters' fifth season, and spoilers are leaking about what's in store for the Walkers.

After a dramatic season ender, things are looking up for two members of the beloved TV family, who have new love interests on the way.

Even more exciting for fans of 7th Heaven -- one of these relationships involves a former Camden!

Click inside for full details.

Jennifer Aniston joins Courteney Cox in Cougar Town

After her new movie bombed at the box office over the weekend, Jennifer Aniston is returning where she belongs -- TV!

Jen will join her former Friends costar Courteney Cox as a guest star on the season premiere of Cougar Town.

“She’s going to play Courteney’s shrink named Bonnie,” show creator Bill Lawrence tells EW. “Kind of a get-too-involved-in-her-life-type of therapist. Those guys are so close in real life they kind of do that for each other anyway. Bonnie has the life Jules wishes she has.”

Lawrence says Courteney wanted the show to find its footing in the first season before inviting Jen to join in the fun. Now that it has the real-life friends are super excited to work alongside each other once again.

“It starts and ends with Courteney and Jennifer being really great friends and excited to work together again—especially doing comedy together,” Lawrence adds. “Every day that those two talk they have more ideas about [the role]. It’s definitely something they’re both involved in creatively.”

Lawrence also says the story will be left open for Aniston to return to the show for more guest appearances.

Them's fightin' words, Sharon Osbourne

Sharon Osbourne appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week to promote America's Got Talent, when the convo turned to the new all-female panel talk show she'll cohost this fall called the Talk.

Osbourne insisted that the View ripoff is not, I repeat not, a ripoff of the View.

"We're very different women, we've got different opinions, we're not miserable and dry," she said.

Sounds groundbreaking!

Sharebot went on to clarify that the main difference between the two shows is that Elisabeth Hasselbeck won't be on the Talk.

"I think ours will be a bit edgier, and more real and not so politically correct like you've got a stick up your ass and you're all dry," she said.

Asked to name her least favourite host on the View, she then responded, "Oh that little blonde idiot."

While I agree with Osbourne's take on Hasselbeck, I still don't think the Talk stands a chance of surviving more than one season.
