Barbara Walters needs a lesson in fascinating

It's that time of year again!

Barbara Walters has revealed most of her 10 most fascinating people of the year, to be profiled on her ABC special December 9.

And once again, Walters' picks prove her cracker jack producing team have paid attention to who people are talking about, because I highly doubt Babs finds half of these people actually fascinating.

This year's list is a who's who of pop culture centre pieces, among them Justin Bieber and the cast of Jersey Shore.

What's fascinating here is not the people themselves, but the flurry of fanfare and attention that surrounds them. I'm sure even Bieber would admit he's fascinated that his floppy hair and prepubescent boyish looks have shot him to superstardom.

The Jersey Shore cast, meanwhile, is positively too stupid to understand the word fascinating, so don't even ask them about it.

Sarah Palin's on the list for the second year in a row. Replace the word fascinating with frightening, and sure, she belongs.

Admittedly, I'm still in awe that Sandra Bullock somehow swept award season with her god awful performance in the god awful movie the Blind Side. So, I'll accept her as one Babs' picks. Even more so, she's had some headline-grabbing challenges in her personal life this year, and come out laughing about it. That I can respect.

At 88-years-old, Betty White's had one of the busiest years of her career and hasn't missed a beat. Maybe now that she's being proclaimed fascinating she'll feel okay taking a break.

And, uh, Jennifer Lopez is on the list. She might be fascinating, but she's been out of the spotlight for so long I have no idea what would merit such classification.

NBA star LeBron James makes the cut, and I'm just going to defer to Barbara and assume he's fascinating because I don't know anything more about him. Was he on Dancing with the Stars this year? Did cell phone pics of his penis hit the internet at any point? Let's say the answer to both questions is yes, and move on.

Finally, Babs tapped Kate Middleton for the special -- pre-engagement to Prince William. She's on the cover of British tabloids a lot, right? Must be a big deal.

The final two picks for most fascinating won't be revealed until the special.

Off the top of my head, I'd give one spot to Mark Zuckerberg. Maybe not the real guy, but definitely the guy as portrayed in the major motion picture the Social Network. That guy's a fuckin' dick, and it's fascinating that I'm still willing to share so much of my life on his website.

And just for fun, let's give the last spot to Kellan Lutz, because his portion of the special could consist of a fan-made YouTube video of the actor/model in his Calvin Kleins.

Your Turn: Who are your picks for most fascinating people of 2010?!

[Side note: look how comfortably chummy Babs looks in the above photo with the Jersey Shore cast. I actually am fascinated by that image.]

On the cover: Mila Kunis for Nylon, December 2010

Mila Kunis takes the December 2010 cover of Nylon Magazine.

To be honest, I'm kind of underwhelmed by the cover and accompanying photo shoot. But I generally find Mila quite beautiful, and she's got my attention as her career continues to incline.

Kunis next appears in Black Swan, in theatres this Friday. Directed by Darren Aronofsky, the thriller zeros in on the relationship between a veteran ballet dancer played by Natalie Portman and a rival, played by Kunis.

“It was the most intense training I’ve ever had in my life, and probably will have for anything," Mila tells Nylon about her role. "I lost 20 pounds, so I went down to 95 pounds. I weigh 117 usually, like today. I looked like Gollum."

And, as previously reported, she's also costarring sans clothing with Justin Timberlake in next year's Friends With Benefits.

But don't go thinking she's getting a big head or anything.

“Literally, at this point, my career has been built on low expectations, and when you surpass those low expectations, you’re a winner," she says.

Matt Damon in a Snuggie

Is there anything more delightful?!

He seems to think so, though I'm not so sure.

The actor has made the above video, to suggest that instead of buying each other blankets with sleeves for Christmas this year, we buy a water bottle to help support Water.org.

If y'all feel the need to do something selfless and charitable with your money, I support you.

But I also want to say I fully support the Snuggie, and wear mine on a regular basis. It is a great gift.

Now if someone would just buy me an adorable cuddly Matt Damon this year to put in my Snuggie, I'd be eternally grateful.

How do we feel about . . .

. . . Anne Hathaway and James Franco hosting the Academy Awards next year?!

I was just catching up on tweets while on the TTC for an hour, and had some time to think about it.

In a lot of ways it makes sense to try to grab younger viewers with these hot young thangs.

Hathaway's been nominated for an Oscar in the past for Brokeback Mountain, and speculation is Franco will be nominated this year for 127 Hours.

And if you're going to take a chance on young talent, this duo is nothing if not charismatic.

It appears Franco can and does do literally anything -- comedy, drama, soap operas, university and novel-writing.

And, well, Hathaway's got a great Katie Holmes impression.

It's not the worst decision, in my opinion. But it is a risky one. The at-home audience may be ready for young blood on the Oscar stage, but will those at the live show be willing to give these new kids a chance?

We'll find out February 27, 2011 when the Oscars are handed out.

And on a side note, I totes photoshopped the above photo specifically because Jackie loathes the original so much. I'm that kind of friend.

Hello E!

Today's the day, my friends!

E! is returning to Canada!

As of 12 noon, the channel formerly known as Star! will be delivering all your fave E! programming.

Oh my, exclamation marks everywhere.

To get everyone started off on the right foot, the network's airing Chelsea Handler's big interview special at 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., featuring Gwyneth Paltrow, Christina Aguilera and Anne Hathaway.

I mean, we all know Gwyneth is the most boring person in the world, but if anyone can make her seem interesting it's probably Chelsea.

My productivity levels will likely nosedive now that Chelsea, the Soup and E! True Hollywood Story are back in my life.

Oh yeah, the network will also air etalk, Fashion Television and So You Think You Can Dance Canada to represent the CanCon.

CRTC tells MuchMusic to keep playing music videos

Canada's broadcast regulator has denied a request from MuchMusic to reduce the amount of music video programming it airs from 50 per cent to 25.

The CRTC also denied its request to reduce Canadian content, eliminate French-language music videos and add more animated programs and drama.

While it's clear MuchMusic is willing to rebrand itself a lifestyle station, the CRTC says its proposed changes would call into question its licensing framework, which gives Much genre exclusivity as the nation's music station.

The changes were opposed by Rogers as well as the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) and the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), who argue they would allow MuchMusic to duplicate the programming of MTV Canada.

Brad Schwartz, senior vice-president of Toronto's Much MTV Group, says changes are still necessary as demographics and technology shift.

"What the CRTC does in creating the nature of services and genre protections is to allow businesses to be special. And our problem is, music videos no longer make us special," he tells the Canadian Press. "When you look at a service like Vevo — which is owned by the record labels — we don't even get music video premieres anymore. All music video premieres are on Vevo."

The CRTC has granted Much increased flexibility in airing movies, as well as a wider variety of programming genres, as long as it is music-related.

It is also allowing Much to operate an 18 as opposed to 24-hour day, meaning it can air whatever it likes between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m.

On the cover: Rihanna for Interview Magazine

Winter may be just around the corner, but it's all sunshine and flowers for Rihanna on the December 2010 cover of Interview Magazine.

The 22-year-old What's My Name singer was photographed by Mikael Jansson and interviewed by that toolbag Kanye West for the issue.

Rihanna and Kanye have clear chemistry, as evidenced by these excerpts from the interview:

Kanye: How does it feel to know that you could have any man in the world. Or woman. How does it feel to know that you can turn straight women gay?
Rihanna: Is that a real question?

Kanye: Do you know any famous people now?
Rihanna: Huh?

Somehow Kanye will find a way to blame Matt Lauer for this awkward interview.

Regardless, Rihanna looks gorgeous on the cover, and in the pages of Interview.

Rihanna's an Avril fan

Rihanna's new album Loud is full of collaborations from the likes of Drake to Eminem and Nicki Minaj.

But one of the more unlikely collabs comes courtesy of Canadian entertainer Avril Lavigne.

Rihanna samples Lavigne's yodel from the 2002 song 'I'm With You' in her new track 'Cheers (Drink to That).'

And if Ri Ri had her way, she would've worked with Lavigne directly.

"I asked the same thing, but when I heard the track, it was already embedded in the music, so the producers already had it that way," she says. "But it wouldn't have made a difference. It would have sounded the same. But I'm just glad that we could use her sample, because it became such a huge part of the instrumental that if it were not to be in the song, it would change the whole vibe of the song."

For what it's worth, Rihanna loves how the song turned out.

"That is one of my favorite songs on the album," she says. "It makes you feel like celebrating," she tells MTV News about the song. "It gives you a great feeling inside like you want to go out and have a drink. ... People can't wait for the weekend."

Jessi Cruickshank and Dan Levy return to MTV with holiday specials

While viewers are still mourning the loss of MTV's After Show, its charismatic hosts Jessi Cruickshank and Dan Levy are returning to MTV Canada this holiday season with their own specials.

Premiering December 13, Dan Levy's Holido's and Don'ts is the TV personality's ultimate holiday survival guide. Levy provides cheap shopping tips, unveils his Christmas wish-list, and visits an acting coach to practice how to react when receiving a heinous present.

Oh, we've all been there, right?

Meanwhile, Jessi Cruickshank's Real Hollywood Survival Guide is a three-part series that follows Cruickshank's transition to L.A.-life. The first episode looks at how to find work among the stars, while the second explores Hollywood night life and "what is just the right amount of 'slutty' for the clubs."

I have always wondered that.

The final installment appropriately shows viewers how to nurse an epic Hollywood hangover.

New episodes air December 27 - December 29.

Anne Hathaway as Katie Holmes

Say what you want about Anne Hathaway, there's no denying she had her Katie Holmes impression down when she hosted Saturday Night Live on the weekend.

And I'm still laughing about it!

In the sketch, the former Dawson's Creek star appears on Miley Cyrus' talk show, where dad Billy Ray is the band leader.

A harrowing concept, I know. Thank god it's all make believe.

Now let me tell you, I've attempted the Katie Holmes half-smile many a time, but never have I captured her true essence to the degree that Anne Hathaway does in this clip.

Mad props.

Pink on . . .

BEING A ROCK STAR AND SOON-TO-BE MOTHER:
"As soon as the baby can say 'mama,' I'm going on the road. We are going to be a traveling family gypsy band with garlands in our hair."

RELEASING HER GREATEST HITS ALBUM:
I definitely had mixed feelings. (Laughs.) You know what? I'm happier now than I was when it was first being talked about. I had been putting it off for years, although that sounds pretty funny. I don't feel old enough, I guess. . . At the end of the day, when I get out of my own way, which is what I had to do, it's something to really be proud of, because when I was a little girl, all I wanted to do was make one hit record. To be able to put out an album full of them is pretty damn special."

HEIGHTENED ACCLAIM OVER THE PAST YEAR:
"I've been busting my (butt) in Europe and Australia and pretty much everywhere else outside of this country for 10 years playing stadiums and arenas ... and then you come here and play clubs, which is kinda rad because I live here and I like being left alone. But also to constantly still be hearing people go, "Wow, she can really sing." ... I don't know, it's a constant battle, but it keeps me motivated, and the Grammys was that moment where I felt like finally I had been given my due a little bit."

WANTING TO MAKE A NON-RADIO FRIENDLY ALBUM:
"Well, I always joke that my favorite artist from the '60s and '70s would have never gotten radio play today, Janis Joplin. You would have never heard probably 'Summertime' on the radio. If it's not 3 1/2 minutes long, it ain't getting played. So when I say (non-)radio friendly, I'm just being vague. I wanna go and just write. I want do to my acoustic rock 'n' roll record, which I always wanted to do since I was a little girl. ... I wanna go to Nashville, I want to go to New York, I want to go all over the place, actually write songs, get a body of work together, and then get musicians together and then record a record like they did in the old days."

Tuesday deliciousness: Kellan Lutz

Ryan Reynolds was named People Magazine's sexiest man alive last week.

An appropriate choice, I'd say. Sexy he is.

But because I'm such a thorough blogger, I thought it necessary to take a closer look at who else People named sexy in its annual eye-catching issue.

And while Reynolds got the big title that matters, Kellan Lutz can rest assured his photoshoot in the mag really shows his sexy off.

In the shoot, photographed by Robert Trachtenberg, Lutz proves he can sell anything -- even sand in the desert.

"I have dimples, so thank the Lord I was blessed with something I could use to look like a little beggar," Lutz tells the mag of his persuasive abilities. "I could flirt and smile. Even with my mother I could sell her stuff, because she'd be like, 'I can't not buy chocolate from you when you put that little face on.' Squint the eyes a little, show the dimples. It also worked on neighbourhood moms."

And of course, nowadays all dude his to do is strip down and show off his bangin' body to sell a magazine, movie or some Calvin Klein underwear.

Other worthy sexy men on People's list this year include Jon Hamm, Nathan Fillion, Jake Gyllenhaal and Justin Timberlake.

Click inside for more hot shots from Kellan's shoot!

Jodie Sweetin wants to be on Dancing With The Stars. Real Bad.

Thanks to Jackie for sending along this article, in which meth addict turned mom Jodie Sweetin campaigns hardcore to appear on Dancing With The Stars.

"I really want to do the show," the mother of two tells People.com. "I just want to dance, but the fact that it would be on camera, and I'd get to have my hair and makeup done and wear those costumes? Awesome!"

Not to mention your first paycheck in how long, Sweets?

Jodie points out she even has experience dancing on TV -- in her signature role as Stephanie Tanner on Full House.

"Stephanie was always dancing," she says. "A week or two before a dancing episode, the writers would say, okay, you and your teacher choreograph a routine."

Val and Katia win Battle of the Blades

Russians Ekaterina (Katia) Gordeeva and Valeri Bure were named winners of CBC reality series Battle of the Blades during its second season finale last night.

The show sees former pro figure skaters and former hockey players compete as figure skating pairs.

As winners of the competition, Gordeeva and Bure receive $100,000 for the charities of their choice -- Cardiac Kids and Compassion Canada, respectively.

During his time in the NHL, Bure played for teams in Montreal, Calgary, Florida, St. Louis and Dallas.

Most notably, however, he is married to former Full House star Candace Cameron Bure, with whom he has three children.

Toronto's Santa Claus Parade 2010

Toronto's Santa Claus Parade was once again a family affair this year, as my mom and I hit the streets of Toronto yesterday to wait for the big guy in red.

Set up at Yonge and Front Streets with hot chocolate, apple cider, and festive treats, anticipation and festive spirit were in the air.

The parade was kicked off by some stellar celebrity clowns, followed by countless costumed paraders, 24 marching bands and more than 30 floats.

Highlights included Disney's Tangled float, Yorkdale's fashionable forest creatures float, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head playing a game of Connect 4, and a very funky dancing Boo Boo on the Yogi Bear float.

My mom's favourite costumed marchers, as always, were the Upside Down Clowns.

I enjoyed the participants dressed up as fruit, whose costumes take on a whole different meaning during the Pride parade.

While there were long gaps between floats toward the end of the parade as the sun set, waiting for Santa was once again worth the wait, and a great way to kick off the Christmas season.

Toronto's Santa Claus Parade is the longest-running children's parade in the world.

This year's 106th parade was broadcast on CTV, with video available on its website.

The Look: Jenny McCarthy in Stella McCartney

Jenny McCarthy looked fierce as hell at last night's American Music Awards in L.A.

The 38-year-old actress, author and mother wore a single-shouldered, sequined Stella McCartney pre-fall 2010 dress.

She paired the silver and turquoise dress with Louboutin slingbacks and a silver clutch.

She really completed the look with her taller than tall hairdo.

It's chic, it's edgy, it's spunky, it's sexy.

Well done, Ms. McCarthy.

Mia Michaels out, Mary Murphy in

After just one season as a permanent judge of So You Think You Can Dance, Mia Michaels admits she wasn't comfortable in the role, and won't return in said role.

"Last year when I was sitting on the [judges] panel, I knew it wasn't the right fit because I felt too glossy sitting on the panel," she tells E!Online. "People were so focused on what I wore and my hair. I wanted to get dirty and back to the work. I am an artist and I'm a visionary. I need to paint my world now and not be constantly linked to So You think You Can Dance."

Michaels says it was her decision to leave the show.

She also says Mary Murphy, who sat out last season, may be back as a permanent judge this year.

"I heard they're bringing Mary Murphy back and I'm really happy for her," Michaels says. "I've sat in that chair, but I feel like that was Mary's chair."

Did she just call Mary Murphy glossy?

Fair.

For what it's worth, I actually liked Mia's honest and critical judging. I did, however, miss Mary Murphy's hot tamale train a lot.

Just please god tell me Adam Shankman won't return as a judge either.

On the cover: Susan Sarandon doesn't care about age

Susan Sarandon and Jane Fonda get their own covers of V Magazine, for the publication's self-dubbed "Who Cares About Age" issue.

Sigourney Weaver also gets her own cover, which you can see by clicking inside.

“There’s fabulous things about being older," says Fonda, 72. "The older people get, the less scared they are. All the studies show you’re not as anxious. People have less hostility, they have less negative emotions. They tend to see things from both sides. Very few things stress me out.”

Sarandon, 64, offers a little advice about aging.

“I think growing older is tough for everybody," she says. "I think it’s really important to be in your life and surround yourself with things that get you excited, so you don’t feel like life is passing you by.”

Meanwhile, Weaver, 61, says she doesn't worry about aging in Hollywood. She just goes with the flow.

“I never worry when they say ‘there are no roles’ or whatever," she says. "As long as people are telling stories, there will be great roles for all shapes, sizes, and sexes. You just keep moving and things come.”

For the past week or so, I've been getting two questions over and over:

First Listen: Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep'

Take a listen to Rolling in the Deep, the first single off Adele's sophomore album entitled 21.

The Grammy-award winning singer says she wrote the revenge song in the heat of the moment.

"I was so angry that I finished 'Rolling in the Deep' in about an hour," she says.

Pretty damn impressive!

How do we feel about . . .

. . . the trailer for Matt LeBlanc's new Showtime comedy series Episodes?

In the series, Matt LeBlanc plays Matt LeBlanc, an actor who's looking for a new project after starring in the biggest sitcom of the 90s called Friends.

He soon lands the lead role in the American version of a British series, whose producers are hoping to maintain some semblance to the original.

How meta.

Early reviews have been positive, and it definitely seems to have potential based on the trailer!

For LeBlanc's sake, hopefully poking fun at himself resonates with fans.

The show premieres in the new year.

The Look: Leighton Meester in Marchesa

Leighton Meester was a head-turner to say the least at Tuesday night's Harry Winston Court Of Jewels Recreation Launch in New York City.

The Gossip Girl star wore a black lace jumpsuit by Marchesa that was daringly revealing.

Call me crazy, but I actually like this look.

She looks kind of like something that walked out of an erotic Tim Burton movie.

Leighton accessorized with Nicholas Kirkwood heels, Harry Winston jewels and a Ball bag.

Come on now and hit the comments. You have to have thoughts on this one.

I hope Anne Hathaway realizes how lucky she is.

God damn, what I wouldn't give to be Anne Hathaway on the cover of this week's Entertainment Weekly. Getting cuddled by naked Jake Gyllenhaal and shit.

Or better yet, what I wouldn't give to be Anne Hathaway in her and Jake's new movie Love and Other Drugs. Apparently they're just naked and having sex throughout the film, opening Wednesday.

"Sixty-five per cent of the film we don't have our clothes on," Gyllenhaal told David Letterman on the Late Show Wednesday night.

Sounds worth seeing to me!

New on CBC: bumbling spies, a dieting village, and hockey in 3D!

the cast of 'InSecurity'

The stars of CBC's winter 2011 season were on hand at Toronto's TIFF Bell Lightbox this morning, to present new additions and returning favourites set to premiere in January.

The presentation began with Gordon Pinsent, star of upcoming miniseries the Pillars of the Earth, demonstrating the joys of 3-D in a comedic filmed piece on the big screen.

The bit tied in with a 3-D hockey preview, as the CBC will broadcast Hockey Night In Canada in 3-D on December 11 and February 20.

Highlights of upcoming series were then presented by Allan Hawco of Republic of Doyle, and Richard Yearwood of the new spy comedy Insecurity.

Here are the new series the Ceeb has in store:

  • InSecurity is a half-hour ensemble action comedy about a group of bumbling spies working to the keep the nation safe . . . ish. Premieres January 4.

  • Village on a Diet is a reality series that follows the overweight people of Taylor B.C. as the small town strives to collectively shed one ton of weight in three months. Somehow the preview for Village gave me goosebumps. Heartfelt? Inspirational? Just maybe. Premieres January 3.

  • The Pillars of the Earth is a miniseries based on the 1989 Kenn Follett novel of the same name. Gordon Pinsent and Donald Sutherland star in the series, set in the 12th century against the backdrop of war, religious strife and power struggles. The story revolves around the building of a cathedral in the fictional market town of Kingsbridge over a 50 year span. Premieres January 4.

  • Make the Politicans Work, a five-part series that sees federal to local politicans test their real-life skills through assignments connected to their areas of interest and portfolios. NDP leader Jack Layton takes on a busy urban ER, PEI premier Robert Ghiz tests his sea-legs on a lobster boat, and Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson works as a garbage collector. Premieres January, exact date TBD.

Returning to CBC: Doyle, Little Mosque, 18 to Life

'Republic of Doyle''s Allan Hawco, who I learned looks just fantastic in a pair of black boxer briefs.

In addition to promoting its new series, the CBC formally announced today the January returns of the following shows:

  • Sitcom 18 to Life returns for more newly-married hilarity, during its sophomore season January 3 at 8 p.m. I spoke to stars Stacey Farber and Michael Seater at the event -- look out for that interview coming up.

  • Little Mosque on the Prairie also returns January 3, though fans will also enjoy a Christmas special airing December 6 at 9 p.m.

  • Republic of Doyle returns for a sophomore season on January 5. I had never given the half-hour comedic drama about private eye Jake Doyle a chance. But the CBC's preview had star Allan Hawco looking smoking fine in nothing but a pair of black boxer briefs. I took notice, oh yes I did.

Dragon's Den, meanwhile, is set to air a special "Second Chance" episode on January 5, in which several entrepreneurs from previous seasons are given another chance to score a deal.

Series already in progress that will continue through the winter season include the Rick Mercer Report, the Nature of Things, and Heartland.

Wednesday deliciousness: Matthew Morrison for Details

Oh what a lovely image to wake up to in my inbox this morning.

Matthew Morrison's shirtless on the cover of December/January's Details Magazine.

I so appreciate his physical form more than his toolbag Glee character.

Norman Jean Roy photographed the actor in Malibu, back in September. Plans to shoot a humorous cover were scrapped once the creative team at Details discovered what Morrison looked like sans shirt.

Are people going to get as upset about this as they did when Lea Michele showed her panties on the cover of GQ? Not likely . . .

Morrison tells the mag he feels like a teacher to some of his younger costars, and hopes fame doesn't get to any of their heads.

“I’ve taken a few under my wing. I don’t want to say they idolize me, but . . . ” he trails off, realizing how this might sound. “Yeah, I find myself learning a lot from the set. I do look at stuff people on the show are doing, and I don’t judge them, but I question it. I say to myself, ‘Keep quiet.’ Fame . . . it’s like a handgun – in the wrong hands, it’s dangerous.”

Ooh, so dramatic! Take me now, Mr. Schuester!

Ch-check out the full Details article here, Matt's workout routine here, or if you just want more shirtless photos click inside.

On the cover: Kelly Osbourne for Shape

Kelly Osbourne shows off her rockin' bikini bod for the December 2010 cover of Shape Magazine.

Osbourne's lost nearly 50 pounds since appearing on Dancing With The Stars last year. And while she loves how she looks and feels, she won't admit to liking the work it takes.

“I don’t care what anyone else says, working out fucking sucks!” she tells the mag. “It does! It sucks! Especially when you have to look at yourself in the mirror sweating, you’re like, ‘Oh, my God. I hate this!’”

She suggests starting small and hitting the gym with a friend to stay motivated.

She also makes a playlist of “the gayest pop music that you can imagine; if any of my father’s friends heard the music for my workout, they’d be like, ‘Shame on you!’ But you’ve got to turn the most miserable experiences of your life into something fun.”

So full of helpful tips, that Osbourne. Love that she's working to motivate others too!

For behind-the-scenes video from the shoot, click here.

CBC staffers: it gets better

To commemorate Bullying Awareness Week, a number of CBC employees have put together their own It Gets Better video, above.

CBC Radio producers Andrea Chiu and Ryan Couldrey conceived of the video and shot it, gathering stories and messages from various staff.

That includes Dragons' Den judge W. Brett Wilson, Q's Jian Ghomeshi and Definitely Not the Opera's Sook-Yin Lee.

"I know it's the geeks and the freaks and the goths and the weirdos that get picked on that actually inherit the earth," Lee tells those getting bullied. "We will get our revenge just by simply living good lives."

LOVE her.

The vid concludes with the contact information for PFLAG, Youth Line and Kids' Help Phone.

Pink confirms pregnancy

Pink is pregnant, the singer confirms in an appearance on Ellen, to air tomorrow.

"I didn't want to talk about it because I was just really nervous and I have had a miscarriage before, but if I was going to talk about it with anyone, it was going to be with you," the expectant pop star tells Ellen DeGeneres during the interview, shot today.

Her pregnancy was first reported by Us Weekly last week.

Pink also tells Ellen things are better than ever with husband Cary Hart.

"I never had anything in my life that I didn't work hard for and my relationship is that," Pink says. "We worked really hard and we had our little meltdowns, a couple of them, and now . . . we both needed to do that and come back together. It's just yummy."

As for the sex of the baby, Pink wants to be surprised.

"I don't think I want to know, but the doctor kind of told me what she thinks. I'm terrified because she thinks it's a girl," Pink says. "My mom has always wished me a daughter just like me. I'm terrified one of us will go to jail."

Pink's greatest hits album hit stores today.

First impressions: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

Last night I attended a media preview of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.

Admittedly, I have not seen all the Harry Potter films.

Also admittedly, I don't remember the contents of the final book all that well -- though I have read all seven of J.K. Rowling's tales of the boy wizard.

It was kind of fun to not know completely what was going to happen next, or compare to the book for accuracy. As such, I enjoyed muchly the action-packed movie, which was peppered with moments of levity.

Here's what I took away:

1. This installment is dark. Both story-wise and colour scheme-wise. I actually loved the cool blues and greens used throughout the movie. Very atmospheric. Breathtaking scenery backdrops too.

2. I loved any scene that involved the main characters being teen angsty. Ron Weasley, so moody! More than that, I loved the kissing scenes involving main characters. Oh young wizard love! (And weird glossy hallucination-y wizard erotica covered by clouds).

3. Over the weekend my roommate asked if I thought Ron Weasley was hot. I responded "sometimes." Watching the movie, I confirmed I was lying. I find him hot a lot of the time.

4. Despite his questionable morals, Draco Maffoy is hot too. Don't pretend you disagree. Just look at him at last night's premiere in NYC.

5. No I did not get all teary-eyed toward the end of this installment when a certain house-elf so heroically saved Harry and the gang at quite the cost to his own well-being. (Okay, yes I did wipe a tear away).

6. Weird and unexpected dance break between two main characters. Awkward, and I'm pretty sure unnecessary. (Here's who).

7. Minimal screentime, but glad we got to see: Neville Longbottom, Dudley Dursley, Hagrid, the Weasley gang and Hedwig.

8. Cool and unexpected animation break to quickly contextualize remaining action in the final act.

9. That Hermione Granger really is a great friend. And a good person to have around when you're searching for horcruxes: so prepared, level-headed and logical.

10. Damn it seems so physically and emotionally exhausting being Harry Potter. I jumped out of my seat five times just watching his life for two and a half hours. Magic is cool, but I'm still pretty happy being a muggle.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 hits theatres on Friday!

On the cover: James Franco, Drake for GQ

James Franco and Drake get their own December 2010 covers of GQ, as two of the magazine's Men of the Year.

Franco takes the title of "Leading Man of the Year," while Drake is named "Breakout of the Year." (Still? Hasn't he been breaking out for a few years now?)

Other Men of the Year with their own covers are Jeff Bridges ("Icon of the Year) and Stephen Colbert ("Patriot of the Year").

And despite not being a dude to our knowledge, Scarlett Johansson gets a cover as well, named "Babe of the Year."

The issue hits newsstands November 23.

Kelly Cutrone heading to daytime

Kelly Cutrone is taking her tell-it-like-it-is attitude to daytime TV, signing on as a special correspondent for Dr. Phil.

The PR maven who audiences met on MTV's the Hills and the City appeared on a well-received episode of Dr. Phil's show earlier this month.

She'll recur throughout this ninth season in the field and in the studio, covering stories centered primarily on 20-something generational topics as well as issues that motivate young girls to gain their independence, such as anti-bullying, weight-control and social skills.

I love Kelly, but I don't think even she could get me to watch an episode of Dr. Phil.

Amanda Walsh cast in CW pilot

Former MuchMusic VJ Amanda Walsh continues to pursue her acting career in Hollywood, now cast in the CW dramedy pilot Danni Lowinski.

Based on the German series of the same name, Walsh plays the title character, "a scrappy hairdresser who has worked her way through law school and finally graduates only to be brushed off by law firms that aren't interested in her type."

Determined to make a go of it, she sets up her own practice in a shopping mall kiosk.

So . . . the female version of Ed?

The pilot's being shot for a possible fall 2011 debut.

Walsh previously starred in the shortlived ABC sitcom Sons & Daughters. She also appeared in the Matthew McConaughey romcom Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, and the Hilary Duff ABC Family movie Beauty & The Briefcase.

NBC midseason: the return of Parks & Recreation!

Hey NBC. Still reeling from the scheduling nightmare that was the Jay Leno Show? Sure looks like it.

The network announced drastic changes to its midseason schedule today, which will see a full three hour comedy block on Thursday, including the return of Parks & Recreation.

Starting January 20, Community at 8 p.m. will lead into new sitcom Perfect Couples. The Office stays put at 9 p.m., and Parks & Recreation returns to its 9:30 p.m. slot.

That means 30 Rock is moving to 10 p.m., followed by Outsourced.

Despite the move, the network also announced it's renewed 30 Rock for the 2011-2012 season.

Parenthood, meanwhile, is moving to Mondays at 10 p.m. starting March 7, so it no longer has to compete with CBS' The Good Wife.

New shows coming to the network in January include the superhero epic The Cape, David E. Kelley legal drama Harry’s Law, and the reality competition America’s Next Great Restaurant.

You can also expect new seasons of reality shows Celebrity Apprentice, and the Marriage Ref, as well as a couples edition of the Biggest Loser.

Ryan Kwanten's Holiday "Want" for Gap

True Blood's Ryan Kwanten has the distinct honour right now of being the desktop wallpaper on my laptop.

The 33-year-old Australian hottie looks just so cute and cuddly in his ad for Gap's holiday "Want" campaign (left).

Kwanten and other stars of the campaign reveal their holiday wants for the world. "All hugs, no worries" sounds pretty nice to me!

Participants include Community's Donald Glover (right), actress Yaya DaCosta, model Lauren Bush, actress Isabel Lucas, broadway actor Reeve Carney and FourSquare founders Dennis Crowley and Naveen Selvadurai.

The campaign also includes a series of YouTube videos featuring the stars. And for every "like" that the videos get on Facebook, Gap will donate $1 to the stars' chosen charities.

This is bound to be amazing

My favourite Canadian Idol, and most frequently-spotted Degrassi cast member are costarring in a stage production of Beauty & the Beast this holiday season.

Yes that's right. Melissa O'Neil and Jake Epstein will take the stage in Ross Petty's production of the fairy tale, subtitled The Savagely Silly Family Musical, at Toronto's Elgin Theatre from November 25 until January 2.

It's become tradition for Petty to stage a farcical holiday show with Canadian Idols, Degrassi stars, and other mediocre Canadian celebs.

Both O'Neil and Epstein bring some stage cred to this production.

O'Neil was one of the best things about Dirty Dancing: The Musical, while Epstein toured with Spring Awakening last year.

Also in the cast of B&B: Scott Thompson of the Kids In The Hall, Jake Simons of the aforementioned Dirty Dancing, and Petty himself.

Rihanna: What's My Name? video

Another day, another new Rihanna track to play on repeat.

Ch-check out the brand new video for What's My Name, the second single off the singer's new album Loud, in stores tomorrow.

The vid sees Rihanna romanced in the dairy section of a convenience store by Drake, who collaborates on the track.

She goes on to shake her hips around the streets of New York, and party at a red hot drum cicle.

I'm already loving Loud way more than Rihanna's last release Rated R. What's My Name makes me want to get to the club ASAP.

2010 Gemini Award Winners

cast and crew of HBO Canada's 'Less Than Kind'

The final batch of Gemini Awards was handed out in Toronto last night, with HBO Canada series Less Than Kind taking three trophies including best comedy series.

The show, whose star Maury Chaykin passed away earlier this year, also took the awards for best comedy performance for Benjamin Arthur and best writing for a comedy.

Meanwhile, Canadian-Irish coproduction the Tudors took the award for best drama, and british crooner Elvis Costello won best talk series for for Spectacle: Elvis Costello With . . .

Olympic glory waged on, as Brian Williams took the award for best host in a sport program for his Vancouver 2010 coverage.

And, it appears the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television is still hung up on the 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards, which took home best music or variety program.

Degrassi celebrates 30 years at Geminis

Cast members past and present paid tribute to Degrassi at last night's Gemini Awards gala in Toronto, marking the 30th year of the Canadian teen show.

Original cast members Pat Mastroianni, Stacie Mistysyn, Stefan Brogen, and Amanda Stepto discussed the show's beginning in a taped piece.

Stars of the show's more recent incarnation including Nina Dobrev, Adamo Ruggiero, Lauren Collins, Cassie Steele, Miriam McDonald and Charlotte Arnold then took to the stage to read letters from fans who have been touched by the series.

Later in the evening, the show was also named Canada's favourite TV show of the past 25 years, as voted on by fans.

Quick hits, in case you missed it

A whole bunch of very funny people showed up to honour Tina Fey, as she was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for humour this week. The ceremony will be broadcast tomorrow on PBS.

Rachel McAdams is gorgeous in Lanvin at the New York premiere of her new film Morning Glory.

Conan O'Brien's new aptly titled late night show Conan beat all the competition -- including the Tonight Show -- on its premiere night on TBS. Ratings leveled off a little after that, but it's still pulling respectable numbers.

Joanna Skibsrud won this year's Giller Prize. Go to Is Well Read to find out what that means.

CTV and CBS are developing yet another cop drama. I'm all for promoting CanCon, but could we offer something other than police procedurals?

Nelly Furtado won the award for Best Female Pop Vocal Album at Thursday night's Latin Grammys.

Very exciting casting news for the new Muppets movie. Are Paul Rudd, John Krasinski, Jane Lynch and Lady Gaga on board?!

Us Weekly reports Pink is pregnant, though the singer has yet to confirm or deny.

Parks and Recreation's showrunner says to expect the show back on NBC in January or February -- though he's unsure on what day it will be scheduled.

Get your weekend started off right . . .

. . . with this ridiculous video of the Olsen twins and friends singing about pizza in the 1995 VHS You're Invited To Mary-Kate and Ashley's Sleepover Party.

My cousin Patrick posted it on my Facebook wall this week, and boy am I glad he did. I can't stop watching it.

There is so much to comment on, but mostly:

1. I love that their main dance move is a good ol'-fashion head bob. You werk those necks, Olsen twins!

2. These kids are so severely confused about what goes on pizza.

3. They do, however, know how to spell the word pizza.

4. That one girl with the short brown hair makes me think I shouldn't have kids, for fear I would end up hating them for being so damn annoying.

Friday Deliciousness: Stephen Dorff

Oh yum!

Stephen Dorff is in fine form in the pages of VMan Magazine's new winter issue.

Photographed by Mario Testino, the 37-year-old actor is promoting his new Sofia Coppola flick Somewhere.

Dorff says he owes Coppola for the opportunity to renew his interest in acting, casting him one year and one day after his mother died of brain cancer.

"This isn't Stephen's comeback. It's his rediscovery," Coppola says.

Whatever you want to call it, Dorff sure is selling something here!

More hot pics inside.

Happy Friday!

The Look: Emma Watson in Rafael Lopez

Emma Watson looked absolutely gorgeous at last night's world premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 in London.

The 20-year-old actress donned a black lace and feather-skirted Rafael Lopez minidress that proved Hermione Granger's all grown up.

My only critique is that the skirt is so short it reminds me slightly of a figure skating costume. A supremely chic figure skating costume, of course.

Still, Watson's working the dress along with her shortly cropped 'do for a look that's spunky yet sophisticated and -- dare I say -- sexy.

She finished off the look with Charlotte Olympia pumps and Solange Azagury Partridge jewels.

And her most important accessory, of course -- a poppy for Remembrance Day.

On the cover: Angelina Jolie for Vogue

Angelina Jolie gives good face for the December 2010 issue of Vogue.

She gives good back too, I guess.

I don't completely get the pose for this photo, but there's no denying Angie looks absolutely beautiful!

The 35-year-old mother of six next appears alongside Johnny Depp in the Tourist, out December 10.

She gets personal in her Vogue cover story, discussing her family and hubby Brad Pitt.

“When I think about him, I just think of the man who’s such a great friend and such an extraordinary father," she says of Pitt. "And that’s when I fall, you know, when I have my moments of getting — whoarr! — caught up in how much I love him . . . it’s usually when I see him with the children."

As for those children, Jolie says she didn't necessarily plan on having a large family, but it now feels right.

“To each his own. It’s one of those things," she says. "How you build your family—you have to know what you’re capable of handling and how your children will relate to each other. Maybe if you have one child and that child has a lot of needs, you realize you cannot give more attention to another. Sometimes you just know as a parent. We felt we could handle more children, and we have a very happy, very full home. So.”

Having given birth to some of her children, and adopting others from countries she's visited for philanthropy work has given her a unique perspective on family and the world.

“My children are from the countries that I work in,” she says. “I don’t see my family as a global family. I don’t see it separate. So when I look at my kids, and I wake up and hear something’s happening in Pakistan, I think: It’s Asians, and my children are from that part of the world. Those kids are very much like my kids. So I’m happy to be able to go.”
