Caption this

Penn Badgley was photographed walking around NYC with a toaster. With bread in it.

If I come back from my trip and you haven't suggested some captions for this sucker, or at least some logical explanations why this photograph exists, I will be right pissed.

Don't worry. I'll be on the lookout for Penn and his toaster, obvz.

Empire state of mind

As you may recall, last summer Vanessa and I took a weekend trip to Chicago.

We had a blast. We ate. We shopped. We segway'd.

We had so much fun we would spontaneously burst into song as we walked down the street.

The only problem was, we didn't know any songs about Chicago, so instead we'd sing the Jay-Z and Alicia Keys hit 'Empire State of Mind.'

Sometimes we'd replace the word 'New York' with 'Chicago,' but most of the time we didn't mess with the masterpiece.

In planning our trip this year, we decided it was time to revisit NYC, so we could sing our favourite anthem in the city that inspired it all.

We visited New York along with Jackie and Seth Green back in 2009, and believe you me we've come up with one hell of a list of fun to complement the great time we had years ago.

So sit tight my lovelies. I shall return Tuesday eve with a whole bucket load of stories.

Oh now this just looks like too much fun

Everytime a teaser for the new Muppets movie is released, my heart fills with so much joy.

That's no different in the case of this just-released official poster for the flick, due in theatres November 23.

The whole gang -- plus Jason Segel, Amy Adams and new Muppet Walter -- is here!

In case you haven't been following along, ch-check out the official movie trailer.

My favourite Muppet was always Rowlf. How about yours?

Thursday deliciousness: Jake Gyllenhaal

As if there weren't already a ton of reasons to love summer, here come new photos of Jake Gyllenhaal to remind us it's prime time for paparazzi to snap celebs at the beach.

The 30-year-old actor was photographed cooling off in Oahu, Hawaii over the weekend, where he traveled to attend his dad's wedding.

If I was being picky, I'd say it wouldn't hurt him to smile for the camera. But nope, no need to be picky here. Damn, boy!

More inside.

Happy Thursday!

Wednesday deliciousness: Kellan Lutz

Kellan Lutz gives great new meaning to hump day, thanks to these new photos from his Dylan George/Abbot + Main ad campaign.

Though the 26-year-old actor/model/HUNK is presumably selling clothing from the lines, I'm pretty glad he doesn't require a shirt to do so.

Man could not be more fun to look at. Whatever you're selling, I'm buying it.

More delicious photos from the campaign inside.

Happy Wednesday!

Who works Bieber bangs better: Affleck vs. Bieber

Ben Affleck emerged in front of the paparazzi this week with a fresh head of Bieber bangs.

While one's first instinct might be to think the Oscar-winner is tackling a midlife crisis with a youthful haircut, in reality he's gone the floppy hair route for a role.

Which is a good thing. While I admit I had floppy bangs for about the first 25 years of my life, I'm happy to say I quit that shit right before Bieber took over.

An adult cannot and should not take the lead from Justin Bieber. We just can't pull off floppy hair, a fake urban accent and "dating" Selena Gomez like he can.

So who works their Bieber bangs better? Bieber, of course.

Don't feel too bad, Ben Affleck. At your age, I'd be worried if this hairstyle did suit you.

The Look: Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Couture

Mila Kunis could not have looked better as she arrived at the Friends With Benefits photocall in Moscow, Russia yesterday.

The 27-year-old actress donned a stunning Elie Saab Couture knee-length dress, featuring plunging neckline and embellished sleeves.

It's a little bit princess, a little bit pixie. And Mila's just glowing in it.

She accessorized with a sparkling headband.

Those fabulous white heels are also by Elie Saab.

TIFF 2011: U2, Clooney, Gosling and more

Looks like we've got quite the celebrity-filled September in store in Toronto, as films featuring U2, George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton and Michelle Williams are among the 40 special presentations announced by the Toronto International Film Festival yesterday.

Opening the festival is From The Sky, a documentary about rock band U2, directed by Davis Guggenheim.

If Bono grates on your nerves like he does mine, fear not. Check out some of the other just-announced program highlights below, or click here for details on all films announced thus far.
THE IDES OF MARCH, directed by George Clooney, and starring Ryan Gosling as a presidential candidate's press secretary involved in a political scandal.

TAKE THIS WALTZ, directed by Sarah Polley, a romance starring Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen.

W.E., a romantic period drama directed by Madonna.

MONEY BALL, directed by Bennett Miller, stars Brad Pitt in the true story of American baseball team the Oakland A's.

DRIVE, stars Ryan Gosling as a stunt driver by day, getaway driver by night. Carey Mulligan also stars.

FRIENDS WITH KIDS, an ensemble comedy featuring Adam Scott, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jon Hamm, Megan Fox and more.

HICK, a coming-of-age road trip movie starring Blake Lively and Chloe Moretz.

JEFF, WHO LIVES AT HOME, a comedy starring Jason Segal and Ed Helms.

KILLER JOE stars Emile Hirsch as a drug dealer who turns to 'Killer Joe,' played by Matthew McConaughey, to help him cash in his mom's life insurance policy.

THE ORANGES, an ensemble family-centric comedy featuring Leighton Meester, Adam Brody, Allison Janney, Hugh Laurie and Mary Steenburgen.

MELANCHOLIA, directed by Lars von Trier, is a "beautiful movie about the end of the world," starring Alexander Skarsgaard, Kiefer Sutherland, and Kirsten Dunst.

SHAME, directed by Steve McQueen, stars Michael Fassbender as a man confronting his sexual compulsions and the self-destructive acts of his sister, played by Carey Mulligan.

360, a dramatic thriller starring Jude Law and Rachel Weisz.

TEN YEAR, about a high school reunion, stars Channing Tatum, Rosario Dawson, Justin Long and Chris Pratt.

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN, directed by Linda Ramsay, stars Tilda Swinton as a mother dealing with her adult son, who she's always known is different, angry and perhaps evil.

All the film festival fun goes down September 8 - 18. Who's coming celeb stalking -- er, I mean, observing -- with me?

Q&A: Kenny Hotz talks 'Triumph of the Will'

Kenny Hotz is on more than a few missions in his new docu-series Triumph of the Will.

While TV audiences will recognize him as one half of the absurdly-competitive Kenny vs. Spenny, he's taken it upon himself to tackle bigger challenges in his new project, premiering tonight at 10 p.m. on Action, and subsequently available for iTunes download.

Each of the show's episodes sees Kenny pursue a goal of epic proportions, for a personal sense of accomplishment, and to stir up audiences on relevant social topics.

That includes finding love for his long-widowed mother, trying to quit eating pork, and following the American dream to strike it rich after being dropped off naked in a Nevada desert.

"I’m trying to put the world and my own psyche in perspective," he says. "I’m trying to fix myself, fix my mom and fix society."

The result is a show that's engaging and eye-opening, but not devoid of levity.

I spoke with Kenny earlier this week to find out how this original series came to be, where it fits among other CanCon, and whether I should feel bad about eating bacon.

Ryan Gosling in a suit

Specifically, a Gucci suit. Featuring white-on-black check pattern.

At the NYC premiere of Crazy Stupid Love earlier this week.

Man is fine. It might be the 40 degree weather, but I just broke into a sweat looking at these photos.

What else is new?

90s Revisited: Ghostwriter! Worrrd!

by Jackie

Did you ever wear a pen on a lanyard around your neck and spend your days writing clues in a secret notebook, with hopes that a flashing circle would jump on the page, rearrange the letters, and help you solve mysteries? Me too!

I recently discovered that most of my favourite Ghostwriter episodes are on YouTube. While wallowing in nostalgia for a few hours, I was excited to spot some now-famous faces in the cast.

SAMUEL L. JACKSON

Jackson had the privilege of appearing as Jamal's father in the very first scene of the series. If you're wondering why you don't remember Jamal having a dad, it's probably because he seems to be somewhat of an absentee parent. He and his wife disappear half-way through the first episode when they take their eldest daughter to college and never return.

He pops up now and again in some of the earlier episodes, but leaves mailwoman Grandma Jenkins to pick up most of the parental slack. Fun fact: Grandma Jenkins (aka Marcella Lowery) later went on to play a postal employee in an episode of 30 Rock! She has a real knack for fake mail delivery.

JULIA STILES
"Can you jam with the console cowboys in cyberspace?" This shit's intense. Ghostwriter is where Stiles got her acting debut. When she caresses her computer at the end of this clip, we're getting a glimpse into the kind of raw, nuanced performances she would later deliver in such films as Save the Last Dance and 10 Things I Hate About You.

Now all I want to know is what happened to the actors who played Lenni, Alex, Jamal, and Ghostwriter.

Cat Deeley on ...

FIIIIINALLY BEING NOMINATED FOR AN EMMY:
"It doesn’t matter how long I had to wait, as long as I got there in the end; the wait just made everything more exciting. I’ve been trying to stay really cool, like Fonzie, but I’m actually much more Richie Cunningham. I’m like an overexcited hormonal teenager ... Of course it was something that I would’ve really liked in an ideal world, but I’m also quite lucky that I love my job. And so while it’s lovely to be recognized in some way, shape, or form, I always consider myself such a lucky girl anyway. A nomination was secondary, the cherry on top of the cake."

PERSONALLY CONNECTING WITH CONTESTANTS:
"It was never a preconceived notion I had, really. But these people are incredibly talented, they’re incredibly passionate about what they do, and they work really, really hard. What we’re doing is taking normal human beings and putting them in the most extraordinary circumstances. And it’s live in front of millions of people, and there are no retakes. So you’d have to be a pretty strange person to not connect with these contestants."

CALLING OUT THE JUDGES FOR CONTRADICTORY CRITICISMS:
"Nigel’s actually a really great boss, and lets me do what I want. The one thing I would never do is comment technically, because I don’t have that knowledge and those guys do; even our guest judges have all got real heavyweight backgrounds. But if I feel like one week they say to a couple, 'That was great because you put your own style in it,' and the next week they say, 'No, you were putting your own style in it, and that’s not good,' then I’ll jump in. I listen to everything. The big thing is, if you are actually in the moment and you really do listen, you know what you’ve got to say. But if you ever step out of it, try to self-edit, I don’t think it works. The right thing will always come to you as long as you’re in the moment. And Nigel has never said 'These are the parameters you can work within, or these are the constraints that we have on you.' They let me do what I like."

PREPARING HER EMMY OUTFIT:
"It’s like being given the most humungous, delicious, exquisitely heavenly box of chocolates, and going, 'Ooh! Which one will I have first?' I’ve got a few ideas already, and a few [designers] have approached me about wearing something for them, and it’s heavenly for me.

"Oh, I’ll probably go quite classic. Because you don’t know how many times you’re going to be nominated, and if this is my only time, I don’t want to go down in fashion hellfire and be banished to purgatory in some terrible dress. I’m a girl from a small town outside of London, my mom and dad aren’t anyone famous, I never went to [private] school, and it’s kind of bonkers, if you think about it — for me to be doing a show I love as much as I do, and to have this [nomination], too. So no, this is not the moment to take huge fashion risks; it’s a moment to really enjoy it, and to make sure I can hitch that skirt up if I do need to run to the podium to beat Seacrest. [Laughs] It’ll be all about aerodynamics."

Much more at the source -- it's a really great interview!

The Look: Emma Stone in Tom Ford

Emma Stone impressed fashion-wise yet again at the NYC premiere of her new film Crazy Stupid Love last night.

One night after going bright and bold at the Friends With Benefits premiere (keep scrolling), this time she opted for a black lace number from Tom Ford's fall 2011 collection.

The dress features a little extra edge, thanks to its flared detail at the waist.

Ms. Stone completed the ensemble with suede Louboutin pumps, drop earrings, deep red lips, and sideswept hair to make for a perfectly elegant Hollywood look.

With multiple great looks from Emma this week, are you able to pick a favourite?

The Look: Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli

Oh man, I love this so much.

Emma Stone took everything you thought you knew about clashing colours and threw it to the wind at Monday's NYC premiere of Friends With Benefits.

The 22-year-old's ensemble by Giambattista Valli included a long-sleeved red cashmere sweater and hot (hot!) pink skirt featuring poofy details on the front.

Combine that with her back-to-ginger hair, and we've got quite the exciting colour combination going on.

Ms. Stone finished off the look with Christian Louboutin nude pumps, a bronze clutch and lips to match the skirt.

What a great look to reflect Emma's spunky personality.

Do you agree or do you agree?

Summer Fun List #77: So You Think You Can Dance Canada taping

I've been trying for years to get tickets to So You Think You Can Dance Canada, and for some reason this year the audience relations department finally decided they like my name.

My friends Linda, Sarah and I have now been invited to no less than four tapings, and the season just started. So Saturday night we all dusted off our best 'jeans-chic'* outfits (as the email from the audience department suggested), and attended the top 20 performance show taping in Toronto.

My first observation after being herded like cattle into the studio was that, despite the expansive feel of the stage on TV, the studio is quite small.  So small that even VIPs like us were only alotted standing room in the pit -- no seats unless you're Dallas Green, or know someone special, it seems.

Our audience warmup guy Josh quickly became my new favourite person, as he instructed us how to clap. Normally I'd resent someone who tries to teach me something I've been doing for years without instruction, but Josh is just that charming and charismatic that I wanted to make him happy with my clapping. Oh how I hope I made him happy.

The show got started, as you see on TV, with host Leah Miller introducing our top 20 dancers, followed by our esteemed judges for the evening.

I literally gasped out loud, hand-to-heart, when Ms. Leah announced Mary Murphy as one of the night's guest judges. The fact that I was breathing the same air as the hot tamale train conductor was almost too much to handle. Throughout the show I'd look over to the Murph, to gauge her reaction. "Does she look like she's having a good time? I hope she likes Canada. She's very tanned. I like her jewellery. Why won't she look over in my direction?"

Mary Murphy is a hoot and a half, and just brings so much energy and joy to a room -- I can now say this first hand.

The other guest judge was Rex Harrington -- aka Sexy Rexy. Obviously anyone with that nickname is good in my books. My lust for him only strengthened when he exclained "Fuck me!" after messing up a contestant's name multiple times. You don't need to ask twice, Mr. Harrington.

Rex also got quite the reaction when he candidly suggested "I'm going to be black by the end of this" after practicing some hip hop lingo.

("CTV will not be airing that comment," was my immediate prediction).

You may be shocked to hear that Leah Miller doesn't grate on my nerves nearly as much as she used to. I've perhaps learned to tune her out, I'm not sure. But seeing her in action, she gets the job done.  Hits her mark, says her lines, complains about her uncomfortable high heels in between. She looked pretty damn fierce in her Gucci dress though.

Tre Armstrong, lord love her, we quickly nicknamed the Paula Abdul of SYTYCDC. So many words come out of that woman's mouth, most of which make no sense, or have no meaning.  But she says them so dramatically, in such emphatic tones, that she seems convinced she's making sense. She might be the only one.

Now onto the dancing -- most of it was quite breathtaking in person.  The show opened with a fun Luther Brown hip hop number by Lauren and Rodrigo, before Lindsay and Christian performed a Blake McGrath contemporary number about touch.

Not having watched any of this season prior, I immediately decided Christian is my hot male dancer of choice. I mean, he's pretty adorable, he worked that dance out, and he was shirtless in tight, shiny, skin-tone pants.  Need I say more?

Perhaps the night's standout piece was a Sabrina Matthews contemporary number about friends dealing with HIV/AIDS, performed impeccably by Melissa and Shane.  I actually had goosebumps the entire time this performance was happening, and it earned a very well-deserved standing ovation from the on-air judges, plus the choreographers in the audience. Just beautiful.

Along the way there was a fun dance hall routine and a decent samba before the show ended on a high note with a comedic jazz number set in a movie theatre, choreographed by Sean Cheesman and performed by Jordan and Joey.

The same way you could feel the energy and excitement as a good performance was taking place, there was definite awkwardness in the air during the few clunkers.  Specifically, a Viennese waltz danced by Teya and Kevin, and a hustle performed by Shelaina and Matt just did not take off. They felt strained on the stage, and as an audience member I wanted to give them another day to practice, come back and try it again.

To the credit of everyone at SYTYCDC, it only took about two hours and 15 minutes to record the two hour program.  There were very few retakes.

Would I have liked to sit down?  Yes.  As we discussed yesterday, I'm getting older, and standing in one spot for more than two hours is hard on my joints.

But thankfully we had Josh, of audience warmup fame, to entertain us between numbers and keep us from getting too cranky. Josh made jokes. Some self-deprecating, which you know I like. He also pulled audience members onto the stage to dance. Sometimes he joined in with a booty-pop, which you know I like.

Not to put Leah Miller out of a job, but we kind of agreed that Josh might be a more charismatic and genuinely likeable host. Think about it, CTV.

I watched the first couple numbers from the taping on TV last night (until after my hunky dancer Christian performed), and should note that the dancing actually came off better in person. That's not to say it didn't look good on TV, but maybe it's like how standup and sketch comedy can sometimes seem a lot funnier when you're actually in the audience, as opposed to watching it on tape.

As far as show tapings go, however, So You Think You Can Dance Canada is one of the most entertaining I've been to.  Well worth the multi-year wait for tickets.

Summer Fun List #8: Turn 27

Yesterday I turned 27 years old.

Now would normally be the time when I lament my age. But to be honest, for the past half a year I had already considered myself 27 in my mind. So now that it's official, it actually just feels like I have a bonus year at the same age. (As a result, 28 will certainly be a shock to the system).

I celebrated with family yesterday, heading home where my mom had prepared one hell of a barbecue, at my request. (This conveniently crosses #25: BBQ off my SFL).

Both my grandma's were in attendance, as were my bro's and parents.

I left so spendidly full, I couldn't have asked for more. Food highlights include, but are not limited to:

1. Buffalo chicken/blue cheese dip my mom made, that I've been craving all day.
2. My grandma's world-famous potato salad.
3. Ceaser hamburgers, which I've also been craving all day.
4. My birthday cake -- Angel Food with lemon icing, an old fave
5. My grandma's strawberry-rhubarb pie, which I've been not-so-subtly requesting for the past couple months. (Worth it!)

In between all the eating, we found time to catch up as we sat outside in the smouldering heat. ("If we're going to complain all winter about the weather, we have to sit outside while it's summer," I argued).

The celebration started with a champagne toast, and ended with cake and presents, like many a good soiree.

Though it feels somewhat outrageous to think I've celebrated my birth 27 times now, ritual is always a good reason to go home and enjoy time with the fam.

Speaking of ritual, click inside for my now-annual just-woke-up-on-my-birthday photo.

Another reason to love Amy Poehler

Ch-check out these choice quotes from the Parks & Recreation star, on her costar Nick Offerman's Emmy snub:

One:
"A lot of people don't know that just last week, Tom Selleck presented him with a Lifetime Mustache Award, which a lot of people don't know. He'll always have that, and they can't take that away from him. But it's a hot load of bullshit that he didn't get a nomination, and you can quote me on that. But I suspect and hope that will change. And certainly that field, there's a lot of talented men vying for that position. If you asked Nick, he'd say the show is represented. But I would say his work on the show is the best stuff on TV, and he deserves every award. A lot of people don't know that Nick designed all of the costumes in "Game of Thrones."

Two:
“It’s total bull shiz that Nick didn’t get recognized, but I fully expect that to be happening next season. Ron Swanson would be proud of the show getting a nod and wouldn’t want the attention. But I’ll say what Nick Offerman can’t and wouldn’t say, which is that he’s the best in the biz, and I don’t quite understand why we don’t see his name there. [But] I’m happy we’ll all be there [for the show's nod].”

Love. Her.

Need to know: 2011 Emmy nominees

The 2011 Emmy nominations were announced from L.A. this morning. If you want the full list, go here. If you want the run-down on what I think you need to know, keep reading.

  • Amy Poehler was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Parks & Recreation, and I swear this is her year to win. Her competition includes Tina Fey, Martha Plimpton (Raising Hope), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Laura Linney (The Big C) and Melissa McCarthy (Mike and Molly).

  • It pays to be a guest actor on Glee: Kristin Chenoweth, Dot-Marie Jones and Gwyneth Paltrow all got nods for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy. Also noteworthy: Tina Fey's nom in this category for hosting SNL.

  • Meanwhile, my husband Matt Damon got a guest actor-comedy nod for his role as Liz Lemon's boyfriend on 30 Rock; Will Arnett got a nod for his role as Jack Donaghy's nemesis; and Elizabeth Banks was recognized on the guest actress side for playing Jack Donaghy's baby mama.

  • In the Comedy Series category I'm most excited to see Parks & Recreation. Most of the other nominees are also quite worthy: 30 Rock, The Office, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family and Glee. Can you guess which one I don't support?

  • Steve Carell's got one last shot to grab an Outstanding Actor in a Comedy trophy. But there's a few newcomers in that category: Johnny Galecki (Big Bang Theory), Matt LeBlanc (Episodes) and Louis C.K. (Louis) join last year's winner Jim Parsons (BBT) and previous winner Alec Baldwin (30 Rock).

  • I'm happy to see Jane Krakowski nominated in the Oustanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy category for 30 Rock. She is so fantastic on that show, and I felt she should've won a trophy for her work years ago. Competition this year comes from Modern Family's Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara, Glee's Jane Lynch, Betty White for Hot In Cleveland, and Kristen Wiig for SNL.

  • I'm happy for the cast of Modern Family. I really am. But I'm really not a fan of one show dominating a whole category, which is what happened in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy category. Ed O'Neil gets his first nod alongside Ty Burell, Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Glee's Chris Colfer and Two And a Half Men's Jon Cryer round out the category.

  • The Outstanding Drama Series category reads like a list of shows I know I should watch, but don't. Joining Dexter (a show I actually do know and love) are Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men, The Good Wife, Game of Throne and Friday Night Lights.

  • If only Jackie would write a blog post about how great Friday Night Lights is, I would probably be ecstatic that Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton were nominated for Oustanding Lead Actor and Actress in a Drama Series, respectively. Chandler's up against the usual suspects (Hall, Hamm, Laurie) and new entrants Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire) and Timothy Olyphant (Justified). Britton takes on previous winner Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU) plus Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Kathy Bates (Harry's Law), Mireille Enos (The Killing) and Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men).

Cat Deeley: Emmy nominee!!!

This deserves its own post.

After seven seasons as the amazing, talented, poised, charismatic, hilarious, beautiful host of So You Think You Can Dance, Cat Deeley finally got her first well-deserved Emmy nomination today for Outstanding Reality Show Host.

She should have been nominated every year since the category's inception in 2008.

But hey, Emmy's finally smartened up, and I'm so happy about it!

She takes on previous nominees Phil Keoghan, Jeff Probst, Ryan Seacrest and Tom Bergeron in the category.

In other So You Think You Can Dance/Emmy news, the show's choreographers dominated the Outstanding Choreography category. Mia Michaels, Canadian Stacey Tookey, Mandy Moore, Tabitha and Napoleon and former contestant Travis Wall fill the category, with Dancing With The Stars' Mark Ballas taking the last spot.

The show, meanwhile, got its first ever nomination for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.

Finally, my hours, and hours and hours of watching this amazing show are somehow vindicated!

(I'd watch it even if it wasn't nominated, because it is an awesome, awesome show).

2011 Emmy snubs

Alas, no batch of Emmy nominations is ever perfect.

Courteney Cox continues to be snubbed by the Academy, despite 10 great years on Friends, and two seasons and counting as the much-funnier Jules Cobb on Cougar Town.

In fact, the Academy completely snubbed the cul-de-sac crew, even though the show and Busy Phillips are certianly also worthy of recognition.

Meanwhile, the fact that all four Modern Family men were nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy means there was little room for my favourite funny guys -- those of Parks & Recreation. Nick Offerman and Adam Scott in particular should have been included in this category.

And the more I watch Dexter (just finished season four), the more impressed I become with Jennifer Carpenter's portrayal of the serial killer's sister Deb. In a perfect world, she'd be recognized by Emmy just as often as Michael C. Hall.

Finally, I was reminded via Twitter of the greatness that is Parenthood. All the performances on that show are fantastic. Sadly, none garnered a nomination.

Anyone else you would've loved to see nominated for an Emmy today?

Just 'cause

Harry Potter week continues here on Out Is Through, with costars Matthew Lewis and Tom Felton being jokey and cute and huggy and adorable at the NYC after party for the final film in the franchise Monday night.

I just can't get enough of these two. This Neville Longbottom beauty transformation is the stuff fairy tales are made of, I tell ya. I'm just all together excited for him, and those around him who get to enjoy his warm, perhaps even hot, embrace.

Couple more inside.

Emma Stone on ...

RYAN GOSLING'S HOT BOD IN 'CRAZY STUPID LOVE':
"Well, I got to touch it too, so I can confirm that he isn’t photoshopped at all. He put in all the hard work, and it will not disappoint you."

HER GIRL CRUSH:
"Christina Hendricks. It’s a no-brainer. Everything about her does it for me. That’s my kind of woman."

THE REACTION TO DYING HER HAIR BLONDE FOR 'THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN'
:
"It was so funny. To me, hair is hair — you dye it, cut it, whatever — so all that attention was wild."

CHOOSING ROLES:
"I don’t really think about it — I just respond to what I read — but I must be subconsciously drawn to women who, even if they don’t necessarily have their shit together, are secure within themselves and don’t need a man to fix them."

Do you like hanging out in parking lots?

The obvious answer to both these questions is "Of course! Who doesn't?!"

Well boy do I have news for you.

For the second year in a row, MuchMusic is giving you the chance to combine your love of Degrassi and parking lots at one exciting event.

Next Monday, July 18 at 7 p.m. fans of Degrassi are invited to meet cast members at the MuchMusic parking lot, before hunkering down to watch the 11th season premiere under the stars.

If this sounds like something you'd be into -- and we've already established that we're all into this kind of thing -- click here for more details.

Whatever it takes, I know we can make it through ... to the parking lot.

Harry Potter cast talks American

If there's one thing I love in life, it's watching the British cast of Harry Potter try to speak with American accents.

Which is why I was shocked to discover I didn't actually post this video of the cast attempting to do just that while promoting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 last year.

So now here's two entertaining videos for the price of one.

After you go ch-check out part one of Harry Potter American Talk, I suggest you press play on Part 2, above.

This time Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and Matthew Lewis aren't just challenged to talk American, but are also quizzed on some American icons, before being asked to perform a modern-day American classic.

Rupert
is too cute for words in this one. ("What is a brewskie?")

Do it. Press play.

The Look: Emma Watson in Bottega Veneta

Emma Watson rocked another brilliantly bold look at last night's NYC premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

This time around the 21-year-old actress donned a stunning Bottega Veneta gown, featuring a full bronzey-orange satin skirt and linen bustier.

Adding to the exciting look, Watson styled her hair with a slick side part, and played up dramatic smoky eyes.

Lorraine Schwartz
drop earrings complete the look.

It took me a minute to take in this dramatic, edgy turn. But now that I have, I must say I quite love it.

What do you think? Has Emma Watson's NYC premiere style put a spell on you too?

Summer Fun List #19: Toronto Island

After about a month of go-go-go, I declared this past weekend to be one of rest and relaxation. And let me tell you -- it was glorious.

My only big outing was my annual day trip to Toronto Island with Holly on Saturday. The weather could not have been more perfect -- hot, but not too humid, with a breeze in the air.

After cramming like sardines onto the ferry over (I don't recall it being that busy in past years!), Holly and I found a nice shady spot at the beach.

There, we caught up, as friends do, with a delightful array of cookies, chips, and gummy peach rings. We also worked on our tans.

A Chris and Holly trip to Toronto Island would not be complete, however, without a photo shoot or two. I lounged in the grass; Holly climbed a tree. We took photos of each other doing so.

In between, we got a pretty good rhythm going with the frisbee -- meaning I can successfully check #43 off my SFL.

Like every year, Holly and I noted how Toronto Island is so great because it's so close to the city, but once you take that ferry ride across you feel like you're in a whole new world. It very easily contributed to my rest and relaxation weekend -- I easily could have fallen asleep on that beach.

Oh also, I ate the most phallic of popsicles. Photo after the cut.

On the cover: Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake for Elle

Friends With Benefits costars Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake take the August 2011 cover of Elle.

Though he's wearing all together too many clothes in this photo shoot, Mila Kunis says girls and gays won't be disappointed with the movie when it comes to Timberlake-objectification.

"You've got a fine ass," she told Timberlake during their joint interview for the cover story.

"I'm still trying to get into the editing room and cut down on my ass time," JT counters. "I’m like, 'Oh my God, my mom's gonna see that!'"

Don't fight it, JT. Don't fight it.

More of the cover story here, and more photos by Carter Smith behind the cut.

Harry Potter boys visit How To Succeed

In New York City to promote the final Harry Potter movie, actors Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, and Matthew Lewis headed to Broadway on Saturday to catch Daniel Radcliffe in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Someone with a camera was present backstage after the show to capture this four-way bromance, above.

Things I love in this photo:

1. Rupert Grint's t-shirt.

2. Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy in a friendly embrace.

3. How hot Neville Longbottom's gotten. I mean, really? Jesus.

More after the cut.

Blair Waldorf's still got it

Just a quick post to take note of how awesome Leighton Meester looked back on the set of Gossip Girl last week in New York City.

The 25-year-old actress was a breath of summery-fresh air in a bright yellow top, Stella McCartney print skirt, and orange pumps with matching bag.

Girl is so damn gorgeous that just these photos get me excited for a new season of the show, which I had all but given up on this past year.

Vanessa and I are heading to NYC at the end of the month, and now that I know Gossip Girl's back in production, you better believe I'll have my eye out for Leighton, Blake, Chace and company.

Click inside for a photo of Leighton mowing down on a pretzel in her Gossip Girl wardrobe. Could not love her more.

More leaked Kelly Clarkson tracks! (And they're good)!

Kelly Clarkson might want to think about moving up the release date of her new album from fall to, like, now.

Three more tracks have leaked to the internet.

And while they aren't confirmed as album tracks, they also aren't the first to hit the internet in recent months.

Just last week a song called Let Me Down, believed to be Kelly's new single, was leaked in its entirety.

This time around we get an early listen to songs called 'I Forgive You,' 'What Doesn't Kill You,' and the stupidly-titled 'Dumb + Dumb = You.'

'What Doesn't Kill You,' above, has a fun dancey-vibe that I'm really digging.

'I Forgive You' is rich power-pop that really builds off Kelly's outstanding voice.

And 'Dumb + Dumb = You' is, well, called 'Dumb + Dumb = You.' (I like the song, but really? That title/lyric)?

Whether or not these songs appear on Kelly's album, they sure are building anticipation for her new release!

Audio of the other two are behind the cut.

The Look: Emma Watson in Oscar de la Renta

I mentioned earlier that I was excited to see what Emma Watson would wear to the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and holy hell did she deliver!

The 21-year-old actress donned a dramatic grey Oscar de la Renta gown, featuring a multi-layered grey tulle skirt and embroidered sleeveless bodice. It's from the designer's fall 2011 collection.

She accessorized with Annoushka jewelery and shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti.

Just friggin' gorgeous.

I only wish her hair was the length it was when she first cut it, but that's minor.

Thoughts? Are you as floored as I am?

Kelly Clarkson's new single?

Take a listen to what is widely believed to be Kelly Clarkson's new single 'Let Me Down.'

While a snippet of it leaked last month, yesterday a full recording of the song popped up on the interwebs.

Take a listen while you can -- it's been taken down from YouTube repeatedly.

What do you think? I for one like what I'm hearing.

Expect it to be officially released next month, in advance of an October album release.

The Look: Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive

Cate Blanchett was positively flawless as she arrived to the Armani Prive fall 2011 fashion show in Paris yesterday.

The Oscar-winning actress naturally wore Armani Prive to the show. Specifically, a striking red skirt and jacket featuring sleek lines and organza cuffs.

The bold tone looked sharp against Ms. Blanchett's soft skintone, as she accessorized with a matching red clutch and heels.

Those orange earrings are a stunning final touch.

Breathtaking.
